My Story

The mission of Home Designs, LLC is to help you discover or refine your style through conversation and education. In person and virtually.

The vision of Home Designs, LLC is to support your design goals to make your house your home.

My Story

Diane and David Wedding Day.jpg

I moved to Vermont in 1996 and pursued a career in education.

After enjoying motherhood, I started a "second act" and a new career in interior design in 2018.

Home Designs, LLC was born out of a love for color. I also enjoy helping clients create more functional spaces in their home.

I started practicing and perfecting my design "eye" in my own home and then began to share my style input with friends and family.

After a time, I attracted clients to both my farmhouse chic design aesthetic and a variety of other style options.

Without the support and encouragement of my friends, family, and BNI colleagues, Home Designs would just be a dream yet unrealized.

I became interested in interior design when the HGTV show Divine Design showcased
Designer Candice Olson.  I had long admired Debbie Travis'; Painted House and
anything Sarah Richardson suggested, but it was Candice Olson's sense of style that
taught me how to design around peoples'; dreams and goals for their spaces. My love
for design became a commitment to what’s possible in any space, when I watched Chip
and Joanna Gaines from Fixer Upper. Their approach to transform spaces from bland
to grand got my attention and made me want to head back to school, even after earning
a PhD in leadership and organizational change in 2012.
After a long career in organizational design and development, I realized my brain likes
order and strategy.  I had worked for 20 years helping people adjust to systems and
systems change.  Good design also involves order to be functional and strategy to
consider the best ways to use space.
So, my approach to interior design is similar to my approach to organizational design.
My design clients tell me that I put the fun in functional to help people love their homes
again, through a few or many changes and improvements.  My promise to each client is
to listen purposefully to how you want to live and love in your home.
